Airbus cadet code
Attitude, Leadership and Teamwork
We have created the Airbus cadet code in order for each cadet training at Airbus to embody our core values: professionalism, safety mindset, respect, integrity and solidarity.
Airmanship
We nurture and closely monitor the development of the technical and non-technical Knowledge, skills and attitude (KSA) that a commercial pilot needs for safe, efficient and sustainable operations worldwide.
Frequently asked questions
Which licence do cadets obtain upon completion?
Cadets will get a ‘frozen’ ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot Licence) allowing to fly large commercial aircraft as a First officer: a CPL (Commercial Pilot Licence) including theoretical ATPL, IRME (Instrument Rating for Multi Engine), Advanced UPRT (Upset Prevention and Recovery Training) and JOC/MCC (Jet Orientation Course & Multi Crew Cooperation) ; ready for Type Rating training. After logging 1500 flight hours time and successfully passing the ATPL practical exam, the pilot has the full ATPL. It is the only licence allowing to evolve in Captain position in airlines.
What support is available for cadets during training?
At Airbus Flight Academy, we provide comprehensive and personalised support to ensure every cadet thrives. They'll receive top-tier training instruction, materials and direct assistance from our experienced instructors and dedicated staff. Our programme fosters a supportive and dynamic learning environment, featuring structured mentorship, innovative, personalised training, and access to a global alumni network.
How many cadets are there per batch?
We cap our student pilot cohorts at maximum 15 cadets, ensuring the best conditions for each of them to succeed. A new group starts every 3 to 6 months.
How is cadet progress monitored and reported to airline clients?
Our experienced instructors continuously monitor and individually assess cadets progression, ensuring they develop key technical and behavioural competencies that airlines clients expect from their pilots. We are in direct contact with customers to inform them at every step as their cadet progress.
Can the academy assist with selection and recruitment?
Our screening is designed to ensure candidates ability to confidently carry out the training and succeed:
1. Online test: 20 min. via a digital platform
2. On-site assessment: either on the premises of the chosen school, or at customer base upon request
3. Core phase: 1st stage of the training blending both theory and flight, culminated in the Pilot confirmation test
As for the recruitment, it can take several forms such as:
1. Present your airline, career opportunities to cadets
2. Post your job offers on our Alumni website
3. Organise a recruitment session on-site

In which language the course is delivered?
Our programme is entirely delivered in English.
Is the course fully classroom or are some parts self learning?
We believe that great pilots are also shaped by the experience, passion and excellence of our experts. Our pedagogical approach is: zero e-learning. Thus, the both theoretical and practical flight training sessions are always led by highly qualified Airbus standardised instructors.
